Great American Cookies is now open seven days a week in Coralville at Coral Ridge Mall.

Founded in 1977, the cookie chain claims responsibility for creating the Original Cookie Cake. The company also offers cookies in a variety of flavors, brownies and Double Doozies.

Great American Cookies has more than 370 locations around the world, with international stores located in Bahrain, Guam and Saudi Arabia. It is the third location in Iowa and the first in the Corridor.

FAT Brands Inc. acquired Global Franchise Group in July 2021, according to Bake Magazine. At the time, Global Franchise Group operated four food brands including Great American Cookies.

It was reported by Restaurant Business online in May that the company hoped to convert 85 former Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip locations into Great American Cookies stores.

In October, Lolli & Pops opened in the Coral Ridge Mall, while Daily Thread opened in November. The mall plans on welcoming Lovisa and Planet Fitness in January.

Coral Ridge Mall is a 1.2 million-square foot enclosed, shopping and entertainment center with five department stores, six big box retailers, a 10-screen movie theater, an NHL regulation-sized ice arena, food court and 100 mall shops.
