Frontier Co-op has announced the national release of two new Regenerative Organic Certified® products: Indonesian vanilla extract and whole black peppercorns. These products will be available exclusively at Whole Foods Market beginning in November.

The launch of these items aligns with Frontier Co-op’s goal of supporting smallholder farmers while providing consumers with sustainable culinary choices. Both products are sourced with an emphasis on environmental, ethical, and social responsibility, as stated in the release from Frontier — based in Norway, Iowa.

The only Whole Foods Market in the state is located in West Des Moines.

“At Frontier Co-op, we’re driven by a simple purpose of doing good for both people and the planet,” said Sheryl Marchetti, senior director of marketing at Frontier, in the release. “We’re proud to collaborate with Whole Foods Market to continue this legacy with Regenerative Organic Certified® products that support smallholder farmers and nurture the earth.”

The Regenerative Organic Certified® Indonesian Vanilla Extract is produced using vanilla beans grown by smallholder farmers in collaboration with Aliet Green, a B Corp-certified supplier. These farmers will receive at least 10% above the standard market rate. The vanilla beans are cultivated in agroforestry systems, promoting biodiversity by intermingling with other crops.

Frontier Co-op’s Regenerative Organic Certified® Whole Black Peppercorns are sourced from smallholder farmers in Sri Lanka. Frontier Co-op supports these farmers by enhancing their spice processing capabilities and increasing their income.

“Whole Foods Market is committed to advancing regenerative organic agriculture and supporting farmers at the forefront of improvements in food production,” said Ana Maria Huertas Buitrago, principal category merchant at Whole Foods, in the release. “Frontier Co-op’s new Regenerative Organic Certified® products reflect the high standard we set for third-party certification and quality, making it easier for shoppers to find responsibly sourced products they can feel good about.”

Both products will be available nationwide at Whole Foods Market during the holiday season.
