The Corridor Media Group, parent company of the Corridor Business Journal and the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal, took home five total awards from the Alliance of Area Business Publishers’ annual Editorial and Design Excellence Competition.

The Corridor Business Journal (CBJ) was named Most Improved Publication overall.

“The publication’s improvements are immediately visible,” the judges noted. “The brighter, heavier paper,  reconfigured front cover and bolder headlines are just the beginning. The content is more fresh  and current, and its coverage focuses on people and smaller businesses in a way earlier issues didn’t. The overall effect is a weighty publication that feels vital and important to its audience.”

The CBJ’s story “What’s next for business travel?”, by Richard Pratt, was awarded silver in Best Explanatory Journalism for small publications.

“The reporter brings to bear an impressive number of sources to illustrate how local airport  business travel is trending since the pandemic, explaining which types of business travel are returning more quickly and which more slowly,” the judges noted.

The Quad Cities Regional Business Journal was recognized with three awards, including silver in Best Newspaper– Small Tabloids; gold in Best Beat Story, Economics and Finance– Small Tabloids; and gold in Best Beat Reporting, Tech and Innovation– Small Tabloids.

This competition is coordinated and judged by faculty in the University of Missouri School of Journalism. The purpose of the competition is to encourage a high level of journalistic performance and service to communities by recognizing editorial excellence and outstanding visual presentation in regional business publications.
