The Corridor Business Journal, a bi-weekly business publication in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids Corridor, seeks an enthusiastic, hungry and capable news intern to report for our publication and learn through valuable hands-on experience.

The news intern will be responsible for cultivating sources and will be expected to produce both daily and enterprise stories. They will be given guidance by the CBJ’s experienced newsroom reporters and editor.

The ideal candidate must be flexible, inquisitive and a strong writer. The candidate must also be attentive to detail and thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, while also remaining open to coaching and continuous improvement.

This internship is what you make of it. Interns will walk away with many bylines and excellent experience that will certainly boost their resume.

The Corridor Business Journal is a leading source for business news and insights, serving the business community of the Corridor.

Responsibilities:

  • News reporting: Cover and report on a wide range of business-related topics, including but not limited to finance, markets, industries, and local business happenings.
  • Interviews: Engage with key business figures and entrepreneurs to gather quotes and perspectives for your articles.
  • Writing: Craft well-written and engaging articles for both online and print publications. Collaborate with the news team to ensure high-quality content.
  • Online efforts: Contribute to the digital presence of the Corridor Business Journal by creating and curating content for our online platforms.

  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to accuracy and fact-checking.
