Mediacom returns to the Best of the Corridor list this year with its second win as Best Security Company. The national cable and internet provider has continued to build out its home control and security offerings since first launching the service in 2013, with customers now able to automate their homes with connected lightbulbs, deadbolts and more. Users can control individual devices or live-stream monitors from their smartphone, or even set up automated events, such as turning on certain lights when the garage or back door opens. Full integration with popular home devices like Amazon’s Echo and Nest thermostats is also coming soon, according to Mediacom’s Phyllis Peters. “What’s been great is that it can be controlled from anywhere and it’s upgradable,” she said. “Four homes on the block may want different kinds of features, and it’s completely customizable.”
