A focus on quality, value and the customer experience has won Cedar Rapids-based Phelan’s a stable of loyal fans, with the firm winning its fourth Best Of award for residential interior design and topping the competitive office furnishings and design category for the first time.
“I believe we won this year because of the many years we have served the business community throughout the Corridor,” leaders Paul and Kayla Phelan wrote in an email outlining the firm’s 30 years working in all sectors of industry. “We have a well-rounded offering and [years of] design experience.”
On the residential side, interior designer and co-manager Alex Von Ahsen said relationships with clients that go beyond the superficial are what set Phelan’s apart from the competition.
“We are fortunate to be able to work with our clients through all phases of their lives and truthfully, in the end, it’s a friendship and not just client and designer,” he said. “We are here to learn what is right for the client and the space, and not push ideas that don’t speak to their personal preferences or how they live.”
Iowa’s largest full-service provider of design services and products continues to adapt to changing shopping habits and generational trends after nearly eight decades in business. Its new Craftmaster American-made sofa that starts at $699 is one example of a successful product offered at a lower price point that still “speaks quality and great style.”
“Our goal, no matter the budget, is we want you to find something here that speaks to you and brings excitement into your home,” Mr. Von Ahsen said.
