Lion Bridge Brewing Co. is more than just a place to grab a great locally brewed beer. Since opening in March 2014 in the renovated Kuncl Mall in Cedar Rapids’ Czech Village, Lion Bridge founder and brewer Quinton McClain has continued to add menu items and become an integral part of the community.
Mr. McClain also recently opened an outdoor patio complete with a bocce ball court, making it a prime summer hangout for Corridor residents.
“I think a lot of it is creating a good following of passionate people who feel included,” Mr. McClain said of Lion Bridge’s third straight win in the Best Brewery category. “We offer a unique historic space in a walkable neighborhood, and I think we try to see our space as a community space – more than just a bar or a restaurant.”
In the past year, Lion Bridge has increased its distribution to the Des Moines and Ames area and plans to enter the Quad Cities in the next few mo nths. Mr. McClain is also looking at expanding the brewery by adding five to eight new tanks, and hopes to can his beers in 2017.
