Mercy Medical Center is now offering its MyChart patient portal in Spanish, an effort aimed at making it easier for Spanish-speaking patients and families to manage their care online.
MyChart allows patients to securely access portions of their medical record, communicate with providers, view test results and schedule appointments, among other functions. With the addition of Spanish-language navigation, Mercy officials said they hope to remove language barriers and improve the patient experience for a broader segment of the community.
“We are committed to ensuring our services are accessible to everyone we serve,” said Jeff Cash, senior vice president and chief information officer at Mercy. “Offering MyChart in Spanish reflects Mercy’s ongoing commitment to meeting the diverse needs of the communities we serve and improving access to convenient, patient-centered care.”
Patients can switch the MyChart interface to Spanish by visiting the login page at mychart.mercycare.org and selecting the language option in the upper-right corner. If a patient’s mobile device is set to Spanish, the MyChart app will automatically display in Spanish. Patients can change the language at any time after logging in.
While the navigation and instructions will display in Spanish, certain medical information, such as test results and images, will remain in English, according to Mercy.
Patients who do not yet have a MyChart account can sign up online through the same portal.
