Cedar Rapids Bank & Trust (CRBT) announced plans Monday to open a new branch facility in southeast Cedar Rapids in spring 2027, which will lead to the permanent closure of its Bever Avenue branch.
The new facility will be located at the intersection of Mt. Vernon Road and 42nd Street SE, adjacent to the Hy-Vee store.
Once the 4,215-square-foot Mt. Vernon Road branch is complete, CRBT will transition all services and staff from the current Bever Avenue location to the new facility.
“This new location is an investment in how we proudly continue to serve our clients and community on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids, providing greater access and convenience while maintaining the personal service they expect from CRBT,” said James Klein, CRBT president and chief executive officer.
The new branch is designed to reflect the openness and accessibility of the bank’s main office while featuring modern design elements, state-of-the-art technology and sustainable materials.
Project partners include Rinderknecht Associates as the general contractor and OPN Architects for design work.
CRBT, established in 2001, offers commercial and consumer banking, as well as trust and asset management services. The bank reported $2.8 billion in assets as of Dec. 31, 2025, and currently operates five locations across the greater Cedar Rapids metro area. The bank will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2026.
