Kirkwood honors safety professionals at women’s conference

Aannual conference gathers professionals from across the region

    Kirkwood Community College recognized three safety professionals at the 2025 Midwest Women in Safety Conference held Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Kirkwood Linn County Regional Center in Hiawatha.

    Chase Emanuel, safety coordinator for Price Electric, received the Safety Woman of the Year Award. Ms. Emanuel oversees safety operations for industrial and wastewater projects and manages traveling workforce projects for Price Electric’s Fort Myers, Florida, branch.

    The Lifetime of Safety Achievement Award was presented to two recipients: Denise Tucker, safety, health and environmental manager at Schneider Electric, and Peggy Peterson, Iowa OSHA Division Consultation and Education Bureau chief.

    Ms. Tucker oversees environment, health and safety management at Schneider Electric’s Cedar Rapids facility, including production, engineering and office environments.

    Ms. Peterson has held multiple roles at Iowa OSHA, including enforcement officer and consultation and education bureau chief. She oversees more than 300 site visits annually, affecting more than 22,000 employees.

    “The stories shared at this year’s conference – and especially the achievements of Chase, Denise, and Peggy – represent the best of what the safety profession stands for,” said Quinn Pettifer, Kirkwood director of corporate training services. “Their leadership and dedication have improved countless workplaces and continue to inspire the next generation of safety professionals.”

    The annual conference brings together safety professionals from across the region to recognize women working in workplace safety and health.
