Cedar Ridge Distillery is commemorating its 20th anniversary with the release of its first-ever Anniversary Edition Bourbon, a limited offering that highlights two decades of Iowa whiskey-making influenced by wine country traditions.
The new expression, crafted by Master Distiller and Blender Murphy Quint, is finished in Tokaji, Ruby Port, Amontillado Sherry casks and second-new American oak barrels.
“To mark our 20th anniversary, I wanted to create a whiskey that honors our beginnings while also representing what we’ve evolved into,” Mr. Quint said, in a release. “This release unites two cornerstones of our history – Iowa bourbon and wine – with the craft we’ve mastered in recent years: blending cask-finished whiskeys. The result is a wine-cask finished bourbon, a truly special release that brings our journey full circle.”
The limited-edition bourbon features a mash bill of 74% Iowa corn, 14% rye and 12% malted barley. Bottled at 110 proof (55% ABV), it retails for $59.99 and is available in Iowa and online at cedarridgedistillery.com.
The distillery is planning an anniversary party Saturday, Aug. 16 with events and music from 12-8 p.m. To see a full schedule, visit https://cedarridgedistillery.com/event/20th-anniversary-party/.
About Cedar Ridge Distillery
Founded in 2003 by Jeff and Laurie Quint on land between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Cedar Ridge started as a vineyard. The company obtained its distillery license in August 2005. Murphy Quint, the founders’ son, joined the company in 2014 and has led its growth into cask finishing and creative blending, with more than 200 finishing casks on-site today.
Cedar Ridge became the top-selling bourbon in Iowa in 2020, surpassing national brands such as Maker’s Mark and Jim Beam. It remains the only state where a local distillery outpaces Kentucky-based producers in sales. The brand has held that top spot for five consecutive years.
In 2024, Cedar Ridge’s American Single Malt was named Best in the U.S. by the World Whiskies Awards.
