A popular Cedar Rapids watering hole is expanding to Iowa City, with plans to open a second location next month on the Ped Mall.
Hazzard County Iowa City will hold its grand opening Aug. 6 from 9 p.m. to close at 118 S. Dubuque St., the former location of Fieldhouse Bar.
The country-themed bar announced its new location in a social media post May 27.
“Although the space is smaller than the Cedar Rapids location, it will have a very similar country bar vibe. The plan is to have lots of TVs for watching games, of course,” the post stated.
At 3,600 square feet, the Iowa City Ped Mall space is a tight squeeze compared to the bar’s Cedar Rapids location at 402 Second Ave SE, which spans 8,372 square feet. Despite the venue’s size, line dancing will remain a staple, the bar assured in response to a question on its June 22 Facebook post – just as it is at the Cedar Rapids location.
Hazzard County first opened in Cedar Rapids in 2012 and offers karaoke, live music, line dancing and more, according to its Facebook page.
