Due to the extreme heat forecasted for Thursday, Aug. 24, the final Uptown Getdown event in Marion has been postponed one week.

Boot Jack Band will wrap up the Uptown Getdown series on Aug. 31 from 6-9 p.m. featuring country favorites.

In preparation for the event, Seventh Avenue between 10th Street and 12th Street will close to traffic at 2 p.m. and reopen at 10 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to follow marked detours on Sixth Avenue. All businesses will remain open.

Admission is free to the public thanks to these Marion Chamber Platinum Community Partners: Farmers State Bank, ImOn Communications, MercyCare Community Physicians, Summit Pointe Senior Living, and Z102.9.

The event is produced by the Marion Chamber of Commerce and Uptown Marion District with support from the City of Marion Hotel/Motel Fund.
