University Scooters, an Iowa City shop that services and sells mopeds, is hosting its second annual 24-hour Scoot Marathon to raise money for the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
The event begins at 5 p.m. April 28 and ends at 5 p.m. April 29 when donations will be presented to the UI Center for Advancement.
Staff will be riding scooters around Iowa City for 24 hours straight alongside several University Scooters NIL athletes and UI Dance Marathon members signing up for shifts to ride along the route.
In addition to the Scoot Marathon, the business partnered with the UI’s Dance Marathon this year. All funds raised by Scoot Marathon will directly benefit Dance Marathon and its efforts to support the Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
Although the main event is in late April, University Scooters sponsor different events prior to the Scoot Marathon to raise money. The company also partners with local businesses, including Pancheros, Noodles & Co. and Papa Murphy’s, for fundraiser nights.
