Together in Song Chorus to perform classic film favorites

The Together in Song Chorus, sponsored by The Family Caregivers Center of Mercy, will perform 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at The Chris & Suzy DeWolf Family Innovation Center for Aging & Dementia, 9000 C. Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids.

Together in Song is designed as a fun, low-pressure chorus for individuals living with chronic conditions, as well as their care partners and volunteer companion singers. The musical venture unites individuals of all skill levels and musical backgrounds for the purpose of social connection, meaning and purpose.

The concert – “A Grand Night for Singing” – will feature familiar tunes from classic films, such as State Fair, South Pacific, and Georgy Girl, as well as favorite folk melodies, like Country Road, Wayfarin’ Stranger and Top of the World.

The chorus, formed in 2018, is directed by Steve Nurre with piano accompaniment by Mary Nurre.
