Steindler Orthopedics has selected Epic, one of the nation’s leading electronic health record (EHR) platforms, to overhaul its patient records system.

This move, announced in a news release March 6, makes Steindler Orthopedics

one of the few private orthopedic groups in the Midwest to adopt Epic, reflecting Steindler’s ongoing commitment to providing advanced, integrated, patient-centered care.

“Epic offers the best-in-class functionality our patients and physicians deserve,” said Patrick Magallanes, Steindler Orthopedics president and CEO. “This transition will greatly enhance our ability to deliver coordinated care, with seamless sharing of critical patient information across various providers, while preserving the highest data privacy and security standards.”

Among the key benefits of Epic for Steindler patients and clinicians:

  • Integrated medical records – Epic’s platform consolidates patient information, ensuring real-time access to health data for doctors and care teams.
  • Patient portal (MyChart) – Individuals will be able to schedule appointments, message providers, pay bills, and view results all in one convenient online portal.
  • Enhanced care coordination – Epic’s interoperability allows secure collaboration with partner hospitals, imaging centers and other regional specialists, leading to more efficient referrals and follow-up care.
  • Data-driven insights – Providers will have sophisticated analytics tools at their fingertips, helping to shape better clinical decisions and patient outcomes.

Implementation efforts at Steindler are underway, with a planned go-live date on June 1. Patients can expect regular updates on the new system’s rollout and instructions for seamless access to their online health records during this period.

“Adopting Epic is a significant step forward for Steindler and private practice health care in our region,” Mr. Magallanes said. “We are proud to be at the forefront of a movement that empowers independent physician groups to invest in top-tier technology for the betterment of patient care.”
