The Brass Fountain announced on Facebook it closed its downtown Solon location after less than two years in business. "It's with a heavy heart that we must announce the closing of The Brass Fountain," the owners said in a statement. "We'd love to see you one more time to say thanks and to help send our staff off on a high note." The company had been active on social media, promoting Santa in Solon on Dec. 18.

Once offering a full-service soda fountain, burgers, fries, sandwiches and desserts, the restaurant posted a short "Closed Forever" message to its online followers on Dec. 28, indicating it had run out of supplies earlier than the expected Dec. 30 closure date. The Brass Fountain was one of the most recent additions to a rapidly growing Solon downtown that has included a boutique bakery, cafe, the "largest housing development in Solon in several years," a sports bar, the remodeled Literary Hotel and a spa, among other newcomers. Solon City Administrator Cami Rasmussen said the town has a "great restaurant presence" in an October interview with the CBJ. Gift cards to the old-school American-themed diner will be honored at Brix Cheese Shop & Wine Bar and Wig & Pen’s, as first reported by The Gazette.
