The University of Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (Iowa JPEC) will recognize seven individuals for their contributions to innovation and entrepreneurship during this year’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Honors event.
As stated in a release from Iowa JPEC, the event will take place on Oct. 11 at the Old Capitol Museum.
Jim Coble, a 2004 graduate with a BBA in marketing and management, and founder of Coble Holdings, will be awarded the John Pappajohn Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
John Slump, who earned a BBA in finance and a certificate in entrepreneurship in 2008, will receive the Alumni Entrepreneurial Leadership Award. Slump is associated with Atraverse Medical and Volta Medical.
Melissa Bates of LSF Medical Solutions is set to receive the Iowa Innovator of the Year Award.
Dylan DeClerck, who completed his MBA and leadership certificate in 2020, will be recognized as the Young Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year for his work with Can Play.
Shamus Roeder, a 2017 graduate with a BS in human physiology and a BSE in biomedical engineering, and a 2019 MS in biomedical engineering, will be named Mentor of the Year.
The school will also honor Tumbleweed, owned by Paul Richardson as the Venture School Business of the Year.
Dr. Lucy Amaniyo of Uganda, a participant in the 2017 cohort of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, will receive the International Entrepreneurship Impact Award.
As stated in the release, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Honors, established in 2020, acknowledge significant entrepreneurial achievements by UI alumni, students, faculty, mentors, and Venture School participants. Awardees are recognized for their passion, innovation, and measurable progress in their ventures, including job creation and revenue growth.
