A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Collins Community Credit Union’s (CCCU) new First Avenue branch in Cedar Rapids will be held Thursday, June 9.

The new branch, at 1800 First Ave. NE, will host an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. June 1, and the ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 5:45 p.m.

CCCU officials will also be announcing a new program known as “The Hub,” a neighborhood initiative for kids to work toward their future. More details on the initiative will be available at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“This project started and finished with the community in mind every step of the way, and we couldn’t be prouder of the result,” CCCU president and CEO Stefanie Rupert said in a release. “From the welcoming layout of the branch, to our partnerships with area nonprofits and local bakers like ShawnnieCakes in the café, to the student murals and ‘The Hub’ youth program, this space speaks to our community values no matter where you look. We are excited for the First Avenue branch to become a central resource dedicated to strengthening the financial well-being of the residents, growing families and businesses that call this neighborhood home.”

“We’re pleased to have Collins Community Credit Union as an Economic Alliance member and community partner,” added Doug Neumann, executive director at the Economic Alliance. “We look forward to their continued success and helping them meet their strategic goals for years to come.”
