Following a year in which less than 20 restaurants participated in a  mostly take-out and delivery Restaurant Week, 56 eateries in Johnson County have jumped on board to participate in the 2022 edition of Think Iowa City Restaurant Week.

“There is no doubt that the restaurant community was hurt by the pandemic. This is a great way to get back out to try new dishes and new places, or reacquaint yourself with old favorites,” Stacey Houseman, Special Projects Manager at Think Iowa City, stated in a release.

Think Iowa City Restaurant Week starts Feb. 18 and concludes with the Iowa City Downtown District’s Top Chef: Downtown event on Feb.  28. Participating restaurants are offering special menu items and/or special pricing during Restaurant Week. The full list of participating restaurants is available at FoodieFebruary.com.

New this year is the ICFoodie Pass. It  is a free, downloadable web-based app that will assist participants in selecting the participating restaurants and what the special dishes or deals are during the week.

“The users will check-in to the restaurant on the ICFoodie Pass. This then enters them to win daily prizes during Restaurant Week. We have over $1,000 worth of prizes to give away,” Ms. Houseman said.

The first time the ICFoodie Pass is used, the user will receive a commemorative ICFoodie sticker. Then, the more check-ins the user has, the more opportunities they will have to win prizes. The ICFoodie Pass is free and available at FoodieFebruary.com.

“The ICFoodie Pass is a difference maker. It’s fun, easy to use, and a great way to show your support for the local restaurants throughout Johnson County,” Ms. Houseman said.

Dining-in is not required. Takeout and CHOMP Food Delivery service are also available and are included in the pass.
