Physicians at OB-GYN Associates to become Mercy Iowa City employees

Providers at OB-GYN Associates of Iowa City and Coralville will become Mercy Iowa City Hospital and Clinic system employees on June 30.

The acquisition will expand the care offerings of Mercy Iowa City while ensuring expecting parents continue to have a choice in where they deliver their babies in the region.

“We are delighted to become a part of Mercy Iowa City and to grow the OB-GYN practice with a real focus on community obstetrics in a warm and inviting atmosphere,” Dr. Lori Wenzel of OB-GYN Associates of Iowa City and Coralville said in a release. “On behalf of all my colleagues, we look forward to providing exceptional care for our expecting parents and their babies, just as we have done for more than 60 years in this community.”

Providers of OB-GYN Associates of Iowa City and Coralville will practice in a clinic named Mercy Iowa City OB-GYN Care. 

“Mercy Iowa City and OB-GYN Associates have a rich history of providing obstetric and gynecologic services to Iowa City and its surrounding communities,” President and CEO of Mercy Iowa City Tom Clancy said in a release. “We are excited to employ the talented providers of OB-GYN Associates and continue providing these vital services to our community as Mercy Iowa City OB-GYN Care.”

Mercy Iowa City birthing center has five labor and delivery suites, a dedicated C-section suite and a pediatric hospitalist team. More than 800 babies are born at Mercy Iowa City each year.
