Nominations open for Healthy For Good Lifestyle Award

The American Heart Association wants to recognize individuals who have made or have encouraged someone to make positive changes to improve the quality of their life and health. Nominations for the Healthy For Good Lifestyle Award are being accepted through Aug. 25, and the winner will be recognized Sept. 10 at the Cedar Rapids Heart Walk.

Nominations for the Lifestyle Change Award can be submitted by friends, co-workers or relatives, and individuals can nominate themselves. Winners will be chosen by a volunteer committee. Nomination forms are available at www.LinnCountyHeartWalk.org and may be submitted via email to michelle.catlett@heart.org.

The Cedar Rapids Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart-healthy living in a fun, family environment. The funds raised will be used to support the fight against heart disease and stroke, which kill one in three Americans each year.

The American Heart Association is currently investing nearly $16 million into research and education projects in the state of Iowa as part of their goal to reduce deaths from heart disease and stroke by 20 percent while improving the lives of all Americans by 20 percent by 2020.
