Doing it right.

According to Bankers Trust senior vice president Josh Moore, that mantra is what makes Bankers Trust one the Corridor Business Journal’s Coolest Places to Work for 2014.

“From top to bottom, we want to do what’s right,” he said. “We want to do what works for everyone. Our employees have the autonomy to make things right for our customers.”

Vice-President Valerie Bassett said that the there is a true team atmosphere at Bankers Trust.

“Everyone pulls together and works together,” she said. “The employees really care about the bank.”

Employees echoed these sentiments on the bank’s nomination form.

“BTC is comprised of caring individuals determined to do the best work and are committed to helping the community at large. From sponsored events, to small acts of kindness that add up (today we brought canned food for the shelter), philanthropy is part of Bankers Trust DNA,” an employee stated.

“Everyone comes from different walks of life and has their own story to bring to the table. Colleagues of mine have been so accepting and understanding of each other’s’ backgrounds and are willing to strive for greatness by utilizing those differences,” another employee stated.

Special events and perks, as well as a commitment to the community, also make Bankers a cool place to work.

“Jeans Days where we contribute money to wear jeans and then donate to a local charity, Kernels night at the ballpark, annual employee recognition celebration, annual night at Theatre Cedar Rapids and at Brucemore and a flexible work schedule that allows us to put family first,” are just a few cool things an employee listed in the nomination form.

“We are not a typical stodgy financial institution. We have fun at work, while getting the job done. Some examples are: a boss look-alike contest, Biggest Loser weight loss with prizes, sales and service nominations that earn the recipient gift cards to various businesses and a company store where we can purchase merchandise,” another employee stated.
