Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County hosting ‘Black in Business’ holiday shop and swap

The Neighborhood Centers of Johnson County will host a celebration of local Black entrepreneurship and community spirit at the “Black in Business” Holiday Shop and Swap on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 1 to 5 p.m.

“The event brings together local Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs, offering a vibrant marketplace where attendees can shop for unique gifts while directly supporting the community,” a release stated. In addition to shopping, attendees can participate in a “swap” experience, exchanging items in the spirit of sustainability and giving, the release added.

“The Black in Business Holiday Shop and Swap is more than just a marketplace,” said Rachel Rockwell, executive director. “It’s a chance to uplift Black & Brown entrepreneurs, promote economic empowerment, and create a joyful holiday experience for everyone.”

Participating vendors include:

  • JAHN: Featuring handmade clothing, art, poetry, and tarot readings.
  • Take Over Cosmetics: Organic skin and hair care products designed for sensitive or chronic conditions, including eczema and acne.
  • Wich-Uh-Waffle: Featuring delicious packaged waffles and baked goods.
  • Divyn Holistics: Natural skin and hair care products promoting overall healing and wellness.
  • Glass Art by Alicia: Stunning glass art creations, including framed pieces, suncatchers, and holiday ornaments.
  • The Platform: A nonprofit organization handing out free gifts, collecting donations, and spreading holiday cheer.
  • Irma2Ivonne Designs: Custom clothing, accessories, and creative designs.
  • Artistic Designs LLC: Unique resin art, diamond paintings, and holiday décor.
  • AMPLIFY by AP: Artistic prints, handmade designs, and photography for art enthusiasts.
  • RaQuishia’s Second Chance Treasures: New and gently used shoes, clothes, and accessories.
  • Floral Flushes: Premium natural toilet sprays for a fresh and comfortable experience.
  • Rodney’s Jamaican Jerk Chicken: Authentic Jamaican seasoning and sauces for bold holiday meals.
