Neighborhood Centers is launching a new Youth Entrepreneurship Program this summer for young people ages 14–24, offering business training, mentorship and the chance to compete for cash prizes.

The Iowa City-based organization is now accepting applications for a limited number of spots. Selected participants will receive free access to a major entrepreneurship conference, hands-on business training workshops and personalized mentorship. The program culminates in a business plan competition on Aug. 8, where participants can win up to $2,500.

Throughout the program, youth will learn how to develop a business idea, market a product or service, write a business plan and pitch their concept. Key dates include an entrepreneurship conference June 11–12 and four business plan workshops in June and July, according to a news release.

“This program is part of our inclusive economic development planning,” said Ayman Sharif, director of Neighborhood Strategy & Innovation at Neighborhood Centers in a statement. “We want our youth to learn skills not only for starting a business, but for understanding the entrepreneurial mindset. Bringing this opportunity directly into the neighborhood matters. We are making sure young people can access support, mentorship, and opportunity right where they are.”

The program is designed to connect youth with community partners and business leaders while supporting both individual growth and neighborhood-based economic development.

Interested applicants can apply online at ncjc.us3.list-manage.com or contact Sharif at [email protected].
