Jim Miller has stepped down as executive director of The District: Czech Village and New Bohemia, District officials announced in a news release.
The move is effective July 2.
The District’s board of directors is actively searching for a successor to Mr. Miller. “The organization remains committed to its mission of revitalizing and promoting the vibrant neighborhoods of The District,” officials said in a release.
Mr. Miller said he will be starting a new position next week as Development Director for Horizons Family Services in Cedar Rapids, working with development, fundraising, marketing and communications.
A Cedar Rapids native, Mr. Miller began his tenure as executive director of The District in October 2023. He had previously served as interim executive director for the CSPS Hall, vice president of the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, and longtime executive director of the Historic Valley Junction Foundation in West Des Moines.
During the search for Mr. Miller’s replacement, District board president Jeff Morrow will serve as The District’s contact person, and executive board member Lauri Martensen will manage the group’s day-to-day activities.

The District: Czech Village and New Bohemia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the character of each neighborhood. Through community engagement, events and economic development initiatives, The District strives to create a vibrant and inclusive environment for residents, businesses and visitors.
