Mercy Medical Center has named Kelly Hawthorne as senior director of The Chris & Suzy DeWolf Family Innovation Center for Aging & Dementia, effective April 20.
Ms. Hawthorne, PT, Ph.D., most recently worked as a physical therapist with MercyCare Marion. She holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and a doctorate in Higher Education and Administration from Saint Louis University, where she also served as an associate professor.
She is a board-certified specialist in geriatric physical therapy and a certified exercise expert for aging adults. Her research has been presented nationally and internationally and published in multiple clinical journals.
Hawthorne succeeds Kathy Good, who is moving from the senior director role into an advisory position with the Innovation Center.
The DeWolf Family Innovation Center for Aging & Dementia, founded in 2023, focuses on aging and dementia care and serves older adults, family caregivers and volunteers. The center aims to be a national leader in research, training, and education.
