Best advice you ever received? Manage the second arrow. My father gave me this advice. It is in reference to the Buddhist parable of the second arrow. It reminds me that when something bad or hard or overwhelming happens, how I respond to that can make things better or make things much, much worse.Â
What do you consider your biggest break so far? Taking a job at Tanager Place when I was 20 years old. I lucked into an organization that strives for a mission and holds values that so closely align with my own, but also provides me with constant challenges for growth and new learning.
What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? I think the biggest issue facing our society is a lack of meaningful and genuine human connection. If everyone had a village to lean on, we would make it through OK.
If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? Mental health in schools — every kid and every family should have easy access to mental health providers and supports. There’s no better place to do that than schools.
What are your passions outside of the workplace? My amazing family. My endless and everchanging novice hobbies, currently: houseplants; formerly: baking cinnamon rolls, hand lettering, bullet journaling, and a long list of other (very random) things.
What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? Our generation is filled with people who care so deeply about the world and how to leave it better for generations to come.
What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? I want to raise good humans and maybe write a book.
