Lone Tree and Shueyville receive branding grant

The Community Branding Grant helps rural communities create a brand identity

A grant that aims to support rural Johnson County communities develop a cohesive and impactful brand identity has been awarded to the cities of Lone Tree and Shueyville.

The 2025 Community Branding Grant, developed by Greater Iowa City, Inc. in partnership with Johnson County, provides up to $5,000 for each selected community.

“We are thrilled that both Lone Tree and Shueyville submitted applications for a new community brand. This grant will help the communities create an identity that truly reflects their community,” said Sarah Thompson, director of Rural Development at Greater Iowa City.

According to a release, $1,500 is earmarked for brand development with up to $3,500 in matching funds for marketing materials. Lone Tree will be awarded $5,000 and Shueyville will receive $1,500.

Both cities have been working with Greater Iowa City in the past year on community engagement and volunteer economic development efforts.

“Branding these communities will give them the opportunity to promote their strengths and showcase what they are most proud of about their towns,” Ms. Thompson said.

The city of Swisher was a recipient of the 2024 Community Branding Grant.
