Kirkwood Community College’s Corporate Training department will host a leadership workshop in Monticello on June 2, focusing on problem-solving and critical thinking skills for working professionals.
The three-hour workshop, “Finding Strong Solutions: Problem Solving and Critical Thinking,” will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Monticello City Council Chambers, 200 E. First St.
The session will cover techniques for identifying root causes of workplace problems, evaluating potential solutions and improving decision-making. Participants will work through activities designed to encourage collaboration and the application of new perspectives to complex challenges.
Brenda Meeker, owner and president of Elevate Consulting LLC, will lead the workshop. Ms. Meeker brings experience in learning and development, human resources and project-based solutions.
“Finding Strong Solutions: Problem Solving and Critical Thinking is designed to strengthen problem solving skills, utilizing a workshop-style format that allows us to tackle relatable work situations,” Ms. Meeker said. “We’ll practice techniques to clarify the problem we need to solve, uncover the root cause, and critically think about the situation, possible solutions, and their impact. The session is informative and interactive, and it is relevant for all since our ability to solve the right problem well impacts our collective performance.”
