JRMC named Top 100 Critical Access Hospital

UnityPoint Health in Cedar Rapids

UnityPoint Health – Jones Regional Medical Center (JRMC) in Anamosa has been recognized as a 2022 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, according to UnityPoint Health-Cedar Rapids. This is the sixth time JRMC has received this honor. JRMC is a sister hospital to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

In all, UnityPoint Health affiliated community hospitals were six of 19 Iowa hospitals named to this year’s list, which was released Feb. 9.

The 2022 list includes the following UnityPoint Health community network hospitals:

  • UnityPoint Health – Jones Regional Medical Center (Anamosa)
  • Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston
  • UnityPoint Health – Grundy County Memorial Hospital (Grundy Center)
  • Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center
  • Clarke County Hospital in Osceola
  • Loring Hospital in Sac City

“I couldn’t be more proud of our staff and their work in the last year,” said Eric Briesemeister, JRMC CEO, in a news release. “They faced, head on, the biggest challenge of their health care careers with COVID surges, short staffing and unprecedented volumes in all clinical areas and still maintained their focus on the patient. Not everyone was able to do that this year. No doubt about it, JRMC is a special place to work and receive care.”

To determine the 2022 list, the Chartis Center used the Hospital Strength Index, which assesses performance in eight areas: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge and financial efficiency. Hospitals recognized in the list had one of the highest overall scores among hospitals nationally.
