Calyx Creek Lavender & Lodging, an agribusiness just outside Iowa City, has been named one of five finalists for the Iowa Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers Grow Your Future Award. Owners Taylor and Stephanie Getting have gained recognition for their work integrating agriculture, tourism, and education at the farm.
The winner will be determined by public vote, with polls open through Sunday, December 15.
If successful, the couple plans to expand their offerings by creating the Midwest’s first lavender labyrinth. The planned addition would offer visitors a tranquil space to explore the fields while learning about sustainable farming practices. The farm also features lavender-themed treats and showcases techniques for cultivating the plant in Iowa’s challenging climate.
“We are honored to be among the finalists for this award,” Mr. Getting said. “The opportunity to bring a unique experience like a lavender labyrinth to life would allow us to meet the growing demand for unique, family-friendly destinations and continue our mission of educating others about the value of farming and locally grown products.”
