The Iowa City Downtown District (ICDD) is set to host a new summer-themed retail event this Friday, July 26. “Scoop the Loop” will run from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., and aims to offer a summer evening of ice cream, shopping, and community activities at certain local storefronts of Downtown Iowa City.
Tickets are $15 each, available online or in-person at 103 E. College St. on the Ped Mall. As stated in a press release from ICDD, participants with tickets will receive:
- Free Ice Cream Token: Redeemable at one of the Scoop Stations
- Access to Sales and Special Promotions: New merchandise and deals at participating shops
- Frozen Treats or Summer Beverages: Available at participating shops, with some offering alcoholic options for adults
- Ice Cream Pint Coozie with Spoon Holder
- Downtown Iowa City Tote Bag

Participating Scoop Stations include:
- Bread Garden Market – Gelato flavor of choice
- Hamburg Inn No. 2 – Oreo soft serve waffle cone
- Molly’s Cupcakes – Ice cream topped with a mini cupcake
- Yotopia Frozen Yogurt – 8oz froyo with 2 toppings
“We’re excited to take part in the first Scoop the Loop event and can’t wait to see familiar faces and connect with other sweet lovers coming together for this unique event,” said Yotopia owner Veronica Tessler, in the release. “It’s a great way for the community to visit downtown for a summer night out, enjoy some delicious treats, and explore the unique businesses that make our downtown so special.”
Downtown Iowa City Ambassadors will also distribute free frozen treats throughout downtown Iowa City and the Northside Marketplace during the event.
