Iowa City arts community celebrates revival of student-run film festival

For the first time since the pandemic, the Iowa City International Documentary Film Festival (ICDocs) will be held in-person in Iowa City.

“ICDocs is a vital part of the community that has been missing for far too long
now,” said festival director Laura Gede. “Bringing together the Iowa City community
over free international cinema is an immense joy and I can’t wait to share what our
class and collaborators have put together.”

ICDocs is an experimental documentary film festival facilitated by University of Iowa students that screens submissions from filmmakers hailing from across the globe, “(featuring) a vast array of films like none you’ve ever seen before,” a news release said. This will be the 19th year ICDocs has operated in the Iowa City arts community.

The festival, held at FilmScene at the Chauncey theater April 26-28, will offer free admission to the public and “welcomes all who love artistic cinema and want to expand their horizons.”
