Ingredion Incorporated, a global provider of ingredient solutions to the food and beverage industry, has been named a finalist for the National Safety Council’s (NSC) Green Cross for Safety awards.
The NSC awards are designed to honor companies that have demonstrated a commitment to safety and health. Ingredion is a finalist in the “Safety Excellence” category, which recognizes organizations with a track record of combining innovative approaches to awareness and comprehensive employee engagement.
“By continuously reinforcing our foundational value of ‘Care First,’ both in the workplace and at home, we improved on our already stellar levels of safety in the manufacturing industry,” Ingredion senior vice president, global operations and chief supply chain officer Eric Seip said in a release.
In 2023, Ingredion reduced recordable and lost time incidents to record lows and continued to operate at high levels of safety and performance.
“Our zero-injury mindset empowers 12,000 employees at all levels to take an active role in safety, and by dedicating ourselves to continuous improvement, we are creating a better environment for everyone,” Seip said.
Winners of the Green Cross for Safety awards will be announced on September 16.
Ingredion has more than 10,000 employees worldwide, including about 120 employees at its Cedar Rapids plant. In January 2023, the company resolved a 175-day strike by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers (BCTGM) Local 100-G union. The strike was the longest against Ingredion since 2004, when workers conducted a 78-day strike against the company then known as Penford Products.
