Matt Traetow has been named the Hyatt General Manager of the Year among Hyatt properties including Destination by Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt, Hyatt Centric, Hyatt Regency, and Hyatt Vacation Club brands. Mr. Traetow has been the general manager for the Hyatt Regency Coralville since 2021 and has more than 20 years experience in the hospitality industry.
The award honors hotel leaders who consistently exceed key performance indicators, including guest satisfaction, financial performance, colleague engagement, and operational excellence. According to a press release, Mr. Traetow earned this recognition “through his steady leadership, operational consistency, and ability to drive sustained performance.”
But Mr. Traetow shares the credit. “I was very surprised to receive the award. However, it is a direct reflection of the entire team’s commitment to taking care of each other and our guests. Because of their efforts, along with an amazing sales staff and an unbelievable Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and welcoming community, I knew the hotel was doing something very special with all the positive results.”
The Hyatt Regency Coralville also netted two annual honors.
The facility was recently ranked No. 1 out of 114 Hyatt Regency hotels in the Americas for Net Promoter Score, a metric measuring guests’ intent to recommend. This marks the second consecutive year the hotel has earned this distinction.
Mr. Traetow noted that the Coralville location was the only Hyatt Regency property to receive the 2025 Platinum Key Operations Performance Award from Hyatt Hotels Corporation. Platinum Key represents the highest level of operational performance across Hyatt’s portfolio, honoring top execution in customer service, cleanliness, quality assurance, and training skills.
