His Hands Free Clinic will host an open house on Friday, June 27, at 1 p.m. to celebrate the unveiling of its “Great Need. Great Care.” capital campaign donor wall and to introduce new executive director Cathy D’mello.
The open house will be held at the His Hands clinic, located at 1245 Second Ave. SE, with a short program scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the clinic, meet staff and volunteers, and learn more about the community’s contributions to expanded health care services in the region.
The donor wall recognizes contributors who gave $1,000 or more to the capital campaign, which raised $1.8 million to support facility improvements and increased service capacity.
The wall, designed by Jeff Westrom of JW Morton and Associates, includes the names of 123 donors: 25 businesses, four churches and 94 individuals. Of the individual donors, 19 chose to remain anonymous.
Ms. D’mello, who assumed her role earlier this year, said she looks forward to meeting supporters and continuing the clinic’s mission of accessible health care.
“I’m so grateful for the warm welcome, and I am excited to meet those I haven’t yet,” Ms. D’mello said in a release. “I’m honored to be part of the safety net our community can count on — today, tomorrow, and for as long as we’re needed. At a time when health care feels uncertain for so many, His Hands remains a place of hope and care for all with compassion, and dignity, in Christ’s love.”
His Hands Free Clinic, established in 1992, is a faith-based, non-profit organization providing free medical, dental and mental health care to uninsured and underinsured individuals in Eastern Iowa. The clinic relocated to its new location, the former Wolfe Eye Care building, in June 2020.
