GreenState Credit Union recently donated $25,000 to North Liberty’s Next Stage campaign, just days after the city received a $900,000 Community Action and Tourism grant from the Enhance Iowa Board, which GreenState helped to secure.

“GreenState is excited to participate and build momentum for this project,” said Jim Kelly, chief marketing officer for GreenState Credit Union, in a press release. “As long-standing members of this community ourselves, we see the value it will bring to families throughout the entire corridor.”

GreenState has a long history with Iowa, starting in 1938 and growing to become the state’s largest credit union, with a mission to to improve the quality of life for over 447,000 members in the communities it serves by volunteering time and donating funds to support local organizations and charities that allow communities to thrive.

“It takes investment across community stakeholders to bring projects like this to life,” said North Liberty mayor Chris Hoffman. “We’re grateful for GreenState’s shared enthusiasm to continue developing North Liberty as a place to live, work and play.”

According to the press release, the capital campaign will enhance Centennial Park with the additions of an outdoor amphitheater, indoor event space, pavilion, splash pad, shelters, restrooms, and an honor garden to recognize Iowa’s service men and women. The project is being completed in four phases, the first phase being the $8.8 million Centennial Center and stage, which is scheduled to break ground in summer 2024 with a completion date of 2025.

The Community Foundation of Johnson County has established a fund for the project to accept donations. The community foundation can accept a wide array of gifts, including cash, stocks and required annual 401k distributions. Contributions of any size are meaningful and eligible for tax deduction.
