Veridian Credit Union has been named the top credit union in both Iowa and Nebraska by Forbes for the second consecutive year.

The Waterloo-based institution, which operates branches in Cedar Rapids and Coralville, earned the No. 1 ranking on Forbes’ annual “Best-in-State Credit Unions” list in both states. The rankings are produced in partnership with Statista Inc.

“To top Forbes’ ‘Best-In-State Credit Unions’ lists is meaningful because it’s based on our members’ feedback,” said Renee Christoffer, Veridian’s president and CEO. “It’s a reflection of our partnership with our members to create their successful financial futures, so there’s no greater compliment we could receive.”

The rankings draw on an independent survey of approximately 26,000 U.S. residents. Eighty percent of each score was based on participant ratings across six categories: trust, service, digital tools, financial advice quality, and fee transparency and reasonableness. The remaining 20 percent came from a sentiment analysis of 1.2 million publicly available online reviews.

Forbes has compiled the state-by-state credit union rankings for nine years. Veridian has topped Nebraska’s list for two consecutive years, led Iowa’s list for three straight years and appeared in Iowa’s ranking seven times overall.

Founded in 1934, Veridian is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with 32 branches across Iowa, eastern Nebraska and the Twin Cities metro area.
