Jody Josten is leaving her position as executive director at Feed Iowa First, the organization announced Monday, May 11, on LinkedIn.

“Jody’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s growth, impact, and vision,” the post said. “Through her dedication, Feed Iowa First has strengthened its mission and deepened its connection to communities across Linn County. We are incredibly grateful for her commitment and the lasting mark she leaves on this work. While we will miss Jody’s leadership, we are excited for her next chapter and wish her all the best in her next chapter.

“We remain committed to our mission and energized about the future,” the post said. “Please join us in thanking Jody for her service and celebrating all that has been accomplished during her tenure!”

Feed Iowa First, based in Cedar Rapids, exists “to combat food insecurity by growing food and farmers.” The organization aims “to increase health equity in our community by creating a sustainable local food system that removes barriers to nutrient-dense food access and land for farming for underserved populations in Linn County.”

She had led the organization since 2024.

Ms. Josten said that, starting July 1, she will serve as the chief growth officer starting July 1 for First Choice Competency Evaluations.  The startup company in Cedar Rapids provides in-custody and out-of-custody competency evaluations for adults and juveniles, expert testimony, professional education services, and testamentary capacity evaluations.

First Choice was established in 2025, but already had decades of experience running competency evaluations.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to take on this role,” Ms. Josten said.
