Erika Macias honored as 2024 Latina Publisher of the Year at NAHP conference

At its annual conference, the National Association of Hispanic Publishers (NAHP) recognized Erika Macias as the 2024 Latina Publisher of the Year, presenting her with the award Oct. 24 at the José Martí Media Awards ceremony in Chicago.

Ms. Macias is the publisher of Hola America News, Hola Iowa, Hola Nebraska, and JEFAS Latinas in Business Magazine.

“The award recognizes her remarkable leadership, dedication, and impact on Hispanic media,” a release stated.

The NAHP conference is a significant gathering for professionals in Hispanic publishing, providing a platform for discussing industry trends and challenges. The event highlighted the role of more than 770 member publications, which collectively reach 15.4 million readers each week, in delivering local, national, and international news that impacts Latino communities across the United States.

Ms. Macias has been instrumental in advancing Hispanic media, overseeing a period of increased readership for her publications while adapting to shifts in media consumption.

“Her recent launch of JEFAS Latinas in Business Magazine underscores her dedication to celebrating and supporting Latina entrepreneurs, providing them with a platform that reflects their achievements, leadership, and diverse perspectives,” the release stated.

The José Martí Media Awards honor those committed to community-centered journalism and innovation in media. Ms. Macias’s award reflects her influence in the field and her alignment with the NAHP’s goals of connecting and empowering Latino communities.
