The Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) saw its highest-ever passenger total for the month of May, recording 153,589 travelers — a 19% increase over May 2024 — the airport announced Thursday.
This marks the fifth consecutive month of record-breaking passenger numbers at CID, including a record month in April.
Year-to-date passenger traffic at the Eastern Iowa Airport, through May, is up 10% compared to the same period in 2024.
Airport officials say the trend puts the airport on pace to surpass last year’s record and potentially mark a third straight year of record-breaking passenger volumes.
“Our numbers are very strong,” Eastern Iowa Airport director Marty Lenss said in a statement. “Thank you, Eastern Iowa, for flying CID, and if things stay on pace for the remainder of the calendar year, we are on track to have our third consecutive record-breaking annual passenger count.”
The Eastern Iowa Airport served 1.4 million total passengers in 2023, followed by 1.5 million in 2024. Officials did not release a projection for 2025, but indicated the upward momentum is continuing.
Mr. Lenss said the airport’s strong performance is also sending a clear message to its airline partners.
“Numbers like these demonstrate to the airlines that travelers in Eastern Iowa are choosing CID,” he said. “When people spend their travel dollars with airlines at CID, it reinforces to our airline partners that their investment in this market — and the potential for future growth — is a wise decision.”
Traffic at the Quad Cities International Airport in Moline is also growing, but at a slower pace. According to official reports, the airport recorded 61,833 travelers in May, up 5% from the 59,006 travelers in May 2024. Officials said the Quad Cities airport had 61,994 passengers in March 2025, its busiest month since pre-COVID. So far this year, traffic is up 7% compared to the same period last year.
