Landus, Iowa’s largest farmer-owned cooperative, has launched a nationwide search for its next chief executive officer.
According to a news release, the search follows months of internal conversations with employees and farmer-owners, led by interim CEO Sam Caton and the Landus board of directors. That feedback helped shape the leadership qualities the cooperative will prioritize in its next chief executive, according to Board Chairman Matt Chambers.
“Landus is at an important turning point,” Mr. Chambers said in a statement. “Sam’s leadership has given us a strong foundation to navigate this challenging transition and move forward with confidence. While our search for a CEO is nationwide, one thing is non-negotiable — the core of our business is here in Iowa, and the success of Landus’ farmers must be at the heart of cooperative decisions.”
The cooperative is seeking a leader with a strong track record of success, a commitment to cooperative values, and the ability to guide the organization through a rapidly changing agricultural economy. The ideal candidate will also be expected to continue Landus’ recent momentum, which includes significant investments in infrastructure and technology to help farmers manage risk and improve efficiency.
Caton will remain in his interim role throughout the search process. Landus has retained Medallion Partners, a national executive search firm, to manage the confidential recruitment effort.
With nearly 7,000 farmer-owners, Landus operates a $3 billion business that spans 34 states and 16 countries. The cooperative offers grain, agronomy, and distribution services, with an emphasis on sustainability and innovation. More information is available at landus.ag.
