What was your first job? Construction work.
Best advice you ever received? My dad always told me to seize opportunities when they come, because some opportunities don’t come twice.
What do you consider your biggest break so far? Marrying my husband, Jerome Edwards. He has supported me every step of the long journey of becoming a physician and is a perfect partner in parenting our children.
What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? Stabilization of the workforce, with a special focus on ensuring we are training and retaining top talent in education, health care, and housing and development, is vital to the growth and sustainability of the Corridor.
If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? I would support programs that address social drivers of health, including improved medication, food, transportation assistance programs, healthy housing conditions and increased access to affordable health care resources.
What are your passions outside of the workplace? Watching my kids play sports, being outdoors landscaping and gardening, and traveling with my husband and family.
What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? We aren’t afraid of hard work and are more engaged when finding employment where we feel valued and are contributing to a greater cause.
What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? I hope to be able to say I raised two beautiful, happy kids who are passionate about life and making the world a better place. I hope to continue efforts in improving the health of the community and promoting equitable access to health care resources.
