Czech Village & New Bohemia to Deck the District

The Czech Village & New Bohemia District is officially launching the holiday season Dec. 3-5 with Deck the District.  Dozens of retail promotions will be available throughout the district all weekend long. 

A festive holiday tractor will be pulling a wagon and transporting visitors between Czech Village and New Bohemia, weather permitting, as seasonal music will be piped into both neighborhoods. In addition to more than 35 restaurants and 40 retailers, the district offers the schedule of special events: 

Dec. 3: 6:30 p.m. The Czech Village Association celebrates the arrival of Svaty Mikulas (Santa Claus) with treats and carols at the future home of Hospoda, Pizza & Pub, 62 16th Ave. SW,.followed by a lighting ceremony of the Village Christmas tree at the Kosek Bandstand next door at 7 p.m. 

8 p.m. Irish Christmas Music In America at CSPS Hall

Dec. 4: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Very Cherry Holiday at the Cherry Building, 329 10th Ave. SE. Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio will hold their Annual Art Sale and Illuminations will hold their Retail Event.   

Noon-3 p.m. MH Entertainment presents Jingle Bell Rockout at the Chrome Horse Saloon & Slophouse, including Christmas carols with Eastern Iowa Arts Academy Bands on the Outside Stage and Midnight Trophy Dads from 8 p.m.-midnight.

Dec. 4-5: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library will once again present its traditional Old World Christmas Market both Saturday and Sunday.

NewBo City Market will host the Young Entrepreneurs Market from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 4  and present Santa at the Market from noon-4 p.m. Dec. 5 and every Sunday in December.

Dec. 5: Live Celtic Christmas Music 2-5 p.m. at Lion Bridge Brewing Company
