CRST has announced the appointment of Mike Gannon as the company’s next president and CEO, effective immediately.

As stated in the Monday news release, Mr. Gannon previously served as chief operating officer (COO) for CRST and has worked at the transport company for over 40 years. His appointment succeeds Hugh Ekberg, who was appointed president and CEO in 2018, and announced his retirement last week to CRST’s Board of Directors.

“I am honored to lead Team CRST,” Mr. Gannon said in the release. “Every decision that we make and every mile that we travel is grounded in our core values of safety, integrity and a commitment to the success of every employee, customer, and community in which we operate.”

Gannon began his career at CRST in 1983. He has held multiple different leadership roles, including president of CRST Malone, president of CRST Expedited, and group president of CRST’s Fixed Asset Division.

Mr. Gannon holds a bachelor’s degree in transportation logistics from Iowa State University and an MBA from The University of Iowa.

“The CRST Board is pleased to have Mike take on this role as the culmination of his tenured career with CRST,” said John Smith, Owner & Chairman of the CRST Board of Directors, in the release.

The Cedar Rapids-based transportation company was recognized by The Home Depot as its “Dedicated Final Mile Flatbed Carrier of the Year” in February.
