The Iowa City Downtown District announced Jan. 29 that a country-themed bar is making its debut next month in Iowa City, in the former Pints Iowa City space.

Giddy Up, owned by the Iowa Ave Hospitality Group, follows Scout’s Honor and Camp as the third addition to the company’s eclectic collection of bars in downtown Iowa City and will make its debut at 118 S. Clinton Street early this February.

Spanning 3,850 square feet, Giddy Up boasts an expansive dance floor and a nostalgic country-western aesthetic with a contemporary twist that hearkens back to the days of old-timey western saloons, featuring wooden walls, a shiplap bar, and other rustic elements.

Giddy Up will offer a diverse beverage menu, featuring themed cocktails, high-end whiskeys, beer boots and a selection of everyday beer favorites. Music videos will be displayed on monitors throughout the venue and line dancing will be featured on Sundays.

“Giddy Up is our ode to country living, and we can’t wait to bring this unique concept to downtown Iowa City,” said Josh Immerfall, Giddy Up owner.

Giddy Up is a recipient of the Iowa City Downtown District’s CoSign grant program, sponsored by MidWestOne Bank. This program supports new and existing businesses within the District, offering funding for storefront enhancements and projecting signage. Approved applicants can benefit from a 50% match for projecting signs, with grants of up to $3,500, and storefront enhancements, with grants of up to $2,500. Businesses have the option to apply for both signage and storefront enhancements.
