A Cedar Rapids costume shop is closing, an announcement that comes just weeks before Halloween.
Owners of the Balloons, Etc. & The Costume Emporium, at 420 2nd Ave SE, are retiring from the costume portion of their business. Jacob and Kimberly Cowger plan to focus on balloons, and will keep operating out of their downtown location as Balloons, Etc. – with an emphasis on balloon decorating, deliveries, bouquets, and twisting, as well as theatrical and special effects make-up.
A 50% discount inventory liquidation sale on costumes will go through Halloween, unless all inventory is sold before then. Items include:

- Masks
- Hats
- Halloween Decorations
- Select Make-Up and prosthetics
- Costume Fabric and Trims
Included for sale are mannequins, clothing fixtures, hangers, and other costume related items. Customers are encouraged to shop early to take advantage of prices and selections.
