Coralville edtech company WordFlight named showcase finalist

WordFlight, an online assessment and intervention solution for elementary students struggling to achieve reading fluency due to foundational skill deficits, has been selected as a finalist for the SIIA’s 2023 Innovation Showcase.

The Coralville software company was selected because of its “research-based innovative technology,” according to a release.

Wordflight helps students with targeted instruction to improve decoding and automatic word recognition skills, enhances phonemic awareness, vocabulary development and comprehension.

“We are thrilled to have been selected for this unique opportunity that will help us grow and better support students and teachers as they work to improve reading skills and educational outcomes,” said CEO Allison Zimmermann in a statement.

The SIIA showcase helps entrepreneurs bring new learning technologies to the education market and directly connects participants to industry leaders and experts. Members have access to one-on-one mentorship, product reviews, direct feedback from state education agencies, and other perks.

To qualify for the showcase, companies must show they have a functioning website, a fully reviewable and finished product, a product developed in the past three years and total revenue totaling less than $1 million a year.

Showcase winners will be announced virtually in June.
