Coralville-based SunHydrogen joins Texas Hydrogen Alliance

Aim is to drive green hydrogen expansion and infrastructure growth

Coralville-based SunHydrogen, Inc. (OTCQB: HYSR), a developer of technology that produces renewable hydrogen using sunlight and water, has announced its membership in the Texas Hydrogen Alliance, a coalition aimed at accelerating the hydrogen economy in Texas.

According to the announcement Sept. 24, the move aligns with SunHydrogen’s ambitions to scale up green hydrogen production and bolster infrastructure in one of the country’s leading energy hubs.

Founded in 2021, the Texas Hydrogen Alliance brings together industry leaders, policymakers, regulators and innovators to promote low-carbon hydrogen production, streamline adoption, and develop a reliable infrastructure for hydrogen storage and distribution.

The coalition aims to strengthen Texas’s standing as a global energy powerhouse while fostering economic growth and innovation in the emerging hydrogen sector.

“We believe our business plan is very well-aligned with current plans to expand the hydrogen economy in Texas, including the creation of a hydrogen trucking corridor throughout the state,” said SunHydrogen’s CEO Tim Young.

The solar hydrogen panels the company is developing use abundant and low-cost materials, require no external power other than sunlight, and are designed with scalability in mind.

SunHydrogen plans to install its hydrogen panel arrays along major Texas trucking routes, positioning them at refueling sites to cut costs and minimize hydrogen losses commonly seen in long-distance transport.

Texas is already at the forefront of hydrogen infrastructure development, recently receiving a $70 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration to create a hydrogen trucking corridor for medium and heavy-duty vehicles.

The initiative will begin with five refueling stations across Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio, with plans to eventually extend the corridor to Southern California.

The state is also home to the HyVelocity Hydrogen Hub, one of seven regional clean hydrogen hubs selected for up to $1.2 billion in federal funding. Prominent energy companies involved in the HyVelocity Hub, including Air Liquide, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Sempra Infrastructure, are also members of the Texas Hydrogen Alliance.

“Our membership in the Alliance brings tremendous opportunity to make inroads into the Texas hydrogen landscape and beyond,” Mr. Young said. “SunHydrogen greatly looks forward to engaging with prestigious industry leaders and fellow innovators.”

About SunHydrogen:

SunHydrogen is working on technologies aimed at producing, storing, and utilizing green hydrogen, a market projected by Goldman Sachs to reach $12 trillion by 2050. The company’s SunHydrogen Panel, currently under development, is designed to generate low-cost green hydrogen using sunlight and water. Similar to solar panels that convert sunlight into electricity, SunHydrogen’s panels would produce hydrogen, offering an alternative energy source.

The company envisions becoming a key technology provider in the evolving hydrogen economy. SunHydrogen plans to expand its reach by developing, acquiring, and partnering with other technologies to support emission-free hydrogen production across industrial sectors, including fertilizer production, petroleum refining, and fuel cell applications in transportation and data centers.
